15.1 DDoS Attack in Blockchain

DDoS stands for distributed denial of service attack. This attack is used to create a complete shutdown for a machine. Here, the target machine is overloaded with bogus traffic so that legitimate requests cannot be processed. The term distributed is used as this attack is delivered by a network of computers called botnets. Particularly, attackers launch this attack for fun and profit purpose. One reason that DDoS is hard to tackle is that it is difficult to differentiate between legitimate and malicious requests.
