Yes, statistics can be boring. It’s also super important to know about: statistics can contextualise findings and inform policy. Most importantly, finding “significant” statistics can make you feel good about yourself and your decision to become a researcher.
This chapter is not intended as a comprehensive class in advanced statistics. It just provides some basics and then tells you how to implement the most common tests of differences and relations in Python. More complex options exist, but they are beyond the scope of this book. If you are interested in doing advanced statistics, you could look at the statsmodels and scikit-learn packages.
