Solid knowledge of mathematics and logical thinking is, without a doubt, the foundation of any piece of software. This is why scientists and engineers have the potential to be good software engineers.

The syntax for mathematical operations is different in every programming language. So even if you know, say, C++, you’ll still have to learn a few details about Python. There are some details where Python zigs while other programming languages zag.
