Machine learning (ML) emerged as a subfield of research in artificial intelligence and cognitive science. The three main types of machine learning are supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning. There are several others, including semisupervised learning, batch learning, and online learning. Deep learning (DL) is a special subset that includes these various types of ML. It extends them to solve other problems in artificial intelligence, such as reasoning, planning, and knowledge representation.
