Approaches for Large-Scale Modernizations
This book has canvassed the various aspects of modernization in general and Java modernization in particular. Although the discussion may seem exhaustive, there is one last topic to cover: the logistics of large-scale modernizations. We have already reviewed how to modernize and migrate Java applications within an enterprise. We have not analyzed how an enterprise or company with lines of Java code in the tens or hundreds of millions can ensure reliable, accurate, and cost-effective migration of that code base to the latest Java platform or other versions of various open-source libraries.
