BSpecific Free-Field Stereo Microphone Techniques
Some stereo microphone techniques work better than others. Each method has different effects. A few techniques provide sharper imaging; some create a narrow stage effect; some have exaggerated separation, and so on. In this appendix, I compare the characteristics of several specific stereo microphone techniques. All of these use free-field microphones; the next Appendix covers stereo techniques using boundary microphones and dummy heads.
