Rust's baseline performance tends to be similar to that of modern C++, but no matter how fast our programs run, there will always be ways to squeeze a little more speed out of them. In this chapter, we'll examine the topic of optimizing performance in Rust programs.
Our ability to optimize depends heavily on the tooling we're using to identify bottlenecks. While several high-quality commercial performance analysis tools exist, we'll be focusing primarily on tools that are free of cost and work across many different platforms.
