Configuring with PowerShell

Windows PowerShell is a new command line shell used mainly for administration purposes. Windows PowerShell provides many advantages over other command line scripting mechanisms such as batch files. It is built over the top of the .NET Framework and enables the use of .NET classes within PowerShell, which makes it a powerful scripting language. You can run individual commands in the PowerShell command prompt or execute a batch of commands writing in a file having .ps1 extensions.

Some of the important commands that you use while configuring SharePoint are listed in Table 16.1.
