If you are thinking the Internet must be a good place to find information on Internet protocols, you are certainly correct. The most thorough source for information on TCP/IP is the Internet RFCs. The formal, technical language of the RFCs can be intimidating, but you can find an answer to almost any question about a TCP/IP protocol from an RFC. The Internet search engines understand the importance of the RFCs and are pretty good about leading you to the right document if you just enter RFC with the protocol name in the search bar (e.g., RFC HTTP).
Several complete libraries of RFCs exist on the web today. The RFC editor site (https://www.rfc-editor.org/) is perhaps the oldest, dating back to DARPA days. I like the https://tools.ietf.org ...
