Summary

This chapter first discussed what intelligence is, and then described the different places to put it. As you learned, there is no clear-cut answer as to which place is best. It all depends on the benefits you are hoping to achieve (such as robustness, flexibility, and consistent business definitions), your constraints (such as cost, skills, and technology), as well as the trade-offs (such as the time to implement, politics, maintenance effort, and costs). Figure 13-8 is a scorecard that compares the different places with the trade-offs for each alternative.
