7 Workshops and Education Programs
Case consultation involves helping consultees identify ways to enhance relationships with children and adolescents resulting in improved behaviors. Appropriate strategies are identified and plans are made for their implementation. The chances for successful intervention by the consultee are increased in an atmosphere of mutual respect and encouragement and when parents and teachers have a better understanding of behavior, as well as skills for communicating effectively. Counselors frequently use a group consultation approach to help parents and teachers learn more about creating this type of atmosphere, to provide information, and to teach skills necessary for improved interaction with children and adolescents.
