A

Analytics Process Automation (APA)

Application Programming Interface (API) 

The standards instructions and rules that allow computer programs to interact. Frequently refers to allowing one system to source data or services from another.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) 

The theory and science of development of computer systems and processes that can consider facts and variables to perform processes that typically require human intelligence – optical character recognition, speech recognition, observing variables for compound decision-making, language translation, and more.

B 

Backlog, or Project Backlog 

This is the queue where the prioritized list of features, functionality, and other build requests have been staged (by product managers) as they await being pulled into a sprint or pegged to a release, as technology development bandwidth becomes available. This term is often used in Agile, and it is one of the “wait” queues.

Benefits Case 

Expected benefit for delivering a project. The benefits case is often used to justify the deployment of dollars, development resources, and focus versus other competing alternatives.
