This book emerged from fragmentary work done over several years concerned with the relationship between meaning and form in title sequence designs (mostly) produced for feature films and television programs in the United States. Some of the individual close readings that appear in this book have been published as self-contained considerations of specific title designs, while for many others, this is their first time appearing publicly.
