The roads to the future are littered with the best thinking, best ideas, and best talent of the present. The problem was and is—and will be—that the conversion of an idea into an action is the most difficult kind of alchemy. Other people had invented a light bulb, but Edison made it commercially viable. Very few people can tell you who invented television,1 for example. The other side of that fickle coin is that Sputnik was launched in 1958 by Russia (the USSR), and the US put a man on the moon just ten years later.

Implementing something imperfect is far better than being back in the pack with something purportedly perfect. In other words, success not perfection.
