Developing and Deploying PerformancePoint Analytic Reports
Reporting and visualization of an organization's data is the only way to turn that data into information. Information is the actionable form of data, turning it from bits and bytes into something the business can use to make decisions and spur action. PerformancePoint delivers a number of very dynamic ways to report on your data. With the capabilities in this product, you can create a variety of different types of reports.
This lesson focuses on one primary type, the analytical report. You learn how to build, extend, and deploy these reports to make dynamic content for your dashboards or other SharePoint pages.
TYPES OF REPORTS
PerformancePoint offers many types of reports, ten to be exact.
Analytic Charts
Analytic charts are one of the most dynamic and interactive report formats that can be used on the Web. This level of interactivity enables unprecedented user control right from the web page. Users have the ability to change measures, alter the chart type, select different layouts, and then drill through and decompose the record in a targeted way (more on this later). See an example in Figure 16-1.
Analytic Grid
The analytic grid is similar to the analytic chart except the data is displayed in a grid format instead of graphically. This would be beneficial for things like actuals vs. targets, displaying KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) alongside their metrics and other numeric data points. See an example in Figure ...
