原書の『Keycloak - Identity and Access Management for Modern Applications』（Packt Publishing刊）は、Identity and Access Management（IAM）に関するOSSである、Keycloakの解説書です。原書の特徴は、Keycloakのプロジェクトリーダーとコアディベロッパーである2人の開発者が自ら執筆した唯一の書籍である点です。そして日本語の翻訳は、Keycloakのメンテナー1人を含む、4人のKeycloakコントリビューターが担当しました。
本書は原書の単なる翻訳書ではありません。執筆時点のKeycloakの最新バージョンである12.0.4ではなく、翻訳時点の最新バージョンである18.0.2に対応した内容になるように全体を書き直しています。さらに、Keycloak 17から登場したQuarkus版への対応も行っています。本書のまえがきでも触れていますが、以前はWildFlyをベースとした構成でしたが、17からはQuarkusをベースとした構成に変わっています。これにより、大きく利用方法が変わってしまっているため、特に、9章「本番環境用のKeycloakの設定」、13章「Keycloakの拡張」はほぼ新規に書き直しています。また、本文だけでなく書籍内で利用するサンプルアプリケーションもバージョン18.0.2で動作するように修正しています。加えて、クライアントポリシーによるセキュリティー保護を日本語版補章として新規に追加しています。このように、原書を既にお読みになった方にも有益な情報を含めています。
