About MS-DOS Files

Microsoft released MS-DOS 6.22 in three versions. When you bought a new computer, you received the OEM version, which might (or might not) include additional utilities specific to your computer system. Two separate upgrade versions also were available. The Microsoft MS-DOS 6.22 Upgrade package could be installed only on a computer running a previous version of DOS, whereas the StepUp version could be installed only on computers running MS-DOS 6.0 because this version simply made changes to the MS-DOS 6.0 files on your disk.
