What Are Xtras?
Xtras serve three purposes. First, they give Macromedia a way to develop pieces of Director independently, without requiring it to make a whole new version of Director. Features such as QuickTime support, Flash support, animated cursors, image filters, and vector graphics are all made possible by Xtras, not anything inside the Director program itself.
