So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

One of my earliest jobs gave me a lesson in the importance of using software engineering best practices, after a tragic accident left me responsible for an important database application.
I interviewed for a contract job at Hewlett-Packard to develop and maintain an application on UNIX, written in C with HP ALLBASE/SQL.
