Installing Named Instances
Installing a named instance is very similar to installing the default instance. Exercise 2.1 provides the step-by-step instructions for a named instance installation. The primary difference is that on the Instance Configuration page, you will choose to install a named instance and provide a unique name for the instance. When installing named instances, keep the following facts in mind:
- You can install instances with the same name on different physical hosts. For example, you can have a \\server1\marketing instance and a \\server2\marketing instance.
