Connections

Microsoft SQL server provides several connections for data transformation services right out of the box. DTS is able to use ODBC drivers and OLE DB providers to connect to database management systems, file system databases, applications, and text files. The following is the list of built-in connections that come with SQL Server 2000:

  • Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server

  • Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle

  • Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 (see the sidebar “DB2 Connection”)

  • Microsoft Access

  • dBase 5

  • Paradox 5.x

  • Microsoft Excel 97–2000

  • Text File (Source)

  • Text File (Destination)

  • HTML File (Source)

  • Microsoft Data Link

  • Other Connection
