Preface
After having a long career span in aerospace industry, I decided to write this book to educate other engineers and specially students working in mechanical and aerospace engineering programs to advance in the field of aerospace structural analysis. The book was written with the intention that someone who is just starting in aerospace stress/structural analysis field or already is working in the industry to gain a solid understanding of the stress analysis methods. After having my initial book of Essentials of Mechanical Stress Analysis, I realized now that general concepts in stress analysis are covered any other specific areas of aerospace stress analysis have to be covered by another book. This book is very comprehensive and covers static, buckling, fatigue and damage tolerance concepts in aerospace stress/structural analysis.
The book can be used as an upper-level undergraduate course or an entry level graduate course both in mechanical and aerospace engineering. The chapters are organized in a way that the book can cover aerospace stress analysis work in one full semester. There are enough examples in the chapters to enhance the theory covered. There are problems at the end of each chapter to be assigned to students that would be taking this course. One small step in life long learning in engineering.
