In this and the following chapter, you will learn how regression analysis allows you to develop a model to predict the values of a numerical variable (CTQ or Y) based on the values of one or more other variables (CTPs or Xs). In regression analysis, the variable you wish to predict is called the dependent variable or CTQ. The variables used to make the prediction are called independent variables (CTPs or Xs).
