Preface

This book is a primer for those familiar with the response of structures,

elastic, and acoustic media. Most built-up structures are composed of

beams, plates, and shells. Solution methods for computing the response

of structures and media to static, dynamic, and random loading are

provided.

The author has presented the material in two main sections containing a

total of three parts. Section one contains Part 1 (Chapters 1 to 3), which give a
