Appendix C. Registry Settings
The Windows Registry is a hierarchical “database” that stores information about the operating system and applications on the local computer. The Registry is organized in a tree format and can be viewed using the Registry Editor program, regedit.exe.
About the Registry
Folders seen in the regedit utility represent keys. These folders are displayed in the left side or Navigation area in the Registry Editor window. There are five folders, or predefined keys:
