8.1. Reports

Reports typically describe the database instance.1 Their structure is often hierarchical, that is, it describes parent-child relationships. A report may have a heading for each parent, followed by a detail for each of its children. Parent-child relationships result from the database schema. For the reader’s convenience, we reproduce the canonical FD graph of the NUTS database here as Figure 8.1.
