Connect to a Local Network
Using an iPhone or iPad nearly always starts with connecting it to a local network, typically Wi-Fi, described as follows. Wi-Fi works quite simply in iOS and iPadOS, but there’s a lot of detail hidden beneath the surface.
In some cases, an Ethernet connection may be useful, described in Join an Ethernet Network. This is particularly useful with newer iPhones and iPads, which can pass data over Ethernet at 5 Gbps.
