Colleges and Universities Compliance Check. The IRS sent a very comprehensive 33-page compliance questionnaire to 400 schools in 2008. The form requested data about organizational structure, activities, endowments, international activity, executive compensation, and governance issues. Details about geographical location, number of students, tuition rates, related organizations, and unrelated business income were also requested. Thirty-four examinations were conducted by the IRS. The results of the exams and additional IRS analysis of the compliance check were issued April 25, 2013.1
