appendix C Authenticating to GCP

The Google Cloud Platform (GCP) provider for Terraform provisions infrastructure onto Google Cloud Platform. This appendix walks through the steps necessary to set up a new GCP account, create a project, and configure access credentials using the CLI.

C.1 Creating a GCP account

If you’re creating a new GCP account, you will automatically receive a $300 credit to try out GCP services. To create a GCP account, do the following (see http://mng.bz/l2G6):

Open the Google Cloud Console in the browser: https://console.cloud .google.com.
If you already have a Gmail account, sign in with that. Alternatively, you can register using a non-Google account.
