THE PAINT EFFECTS

This is a wacky category of effects. One effect (the Paint effect) isn't really an effect, per se, and the other effect (the Vector Paint effect) is somewhat obsolete. But we'll cover both the effects here because of the importance of painting in After Effects. Using painting tools and effects, we can rotoscope, cover blemishes, add objects, create motion graphics, and much more.

The Paint Effect

The Paint effect is similar to the Puppet effect that we looked at in Chapter 7. It's not really an effect on its own, just a vehicle that the painting tools in After Effects use to apply paint to a layer. Many users of After Effects probably paint on their layers, not realizing that an effect has been applied in the process.
