Chapter 3. AI product sense: making better bets faster
If you are building products in 2027, you can ship a credible AI prototype faster than you can schedule a stakeholder meeting to debate it.

Classic product sense is rooted in fundamentals: understanding user pain points, identifying the underlying job-to-be-done (JTBD), making ruthless scoping tradeoffs, and aligning engineering teams around a crisp direction. AI adds a new, chaotic layer because you are building experiences on top of systems that are inherently probabilistic, highly context-dependent, and fully capable of producing outputs that sound confidently correct even when they are entirely wrong.
