DIRECTIVES

Directives are memos or emails that give instructions for a task, project, assignment, or new procedure. Directives address a particular problem and indicate a solution.

When writing directives, consider the following tips (Figure 25):

image State the reason for the directive, including a legislative compliance requirement, if any.

image Include specific instructions on what the reader is expected to do.

image State deadlines for the task or project.
