The C in our BASICS model stands for Check. The importance of “checking” is to make sure the improvements we implemented are working and sustaining (see Figure 6.1).

A System of Checks
We must build in checks to make sure the new process is meeting our expectations and to continue looking for additional improvement opportunities. We need to make sure we have active metrics in place that surface any problems within the process.
