BIM and Contracts

Introduction

In this chapter we will look at the contractual and legal implications of BIM for project team members. The Government Construction Clients Group suggested in March 2011 that ‘Little change is required in the fundamental building blocks of copyright law, contracts or insurance to facilitate working at Level 2 of BIM maturity.’¹ We will examine the extent to which project teams implementing BIM should rely on this assessment.
