22.1 The Preferences Dialog
Open the Preferences dialog via the Image: Edit menu. It is a large and complex dialog, as shown in Figure 22-1 (left). The menu on the left in the dialog displays the list of preference tabs; we’ll consider each in turn. Anytime you change parameters in GIMP, your work is saved to a file called gimprc
and stored on your machine, typically in the main GIMP directory. The changes usually take effect immediately, unless the program says otherwise.
Environment
The first tab of the Preferences dialog deals with the ENVIRONMENT. You can set the following parameters, as shown in Figure 22-1 (left).
