I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Making a movie is like making stone soup. You start with a stone, and then you persuade everyone you meet to keep adding ingredients: a pot, water, vegetables, spices, chicken, dumplings, etc. When you’re done, they will have forgotten that you started with nothing more than an inedible rock, and all everyone will remember is how delicious your stone soup is. Likewise, to make an independent film, you don’t need to start with connections, money, talent or even skills. You just need a stone, and the relentless persistence to turn it into soup.
If you’re considering buying this book, please do. As you’ll see when you keep reading, making independent films is a financially unsustainable proposition. At best, the IRS will consider it a glorified ...
