About the Authors
Paul J. Maurer has served as president & CEO of Montreat College since 2014 and has served in higher education for the past 25 years. Montreat College is recognized at the highest levels of the United States government as a national leader in cybersecurity education and workforce development. Montreat gained designation as a Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) by the National Security Agency (NSA) in 2017.
Dr. Maurer is a frequent speaker on a variety of topics. He earned his Ph.D. in political science from Claremont Graduate University, where he was an H. B. Earhart Fellow and a John M. Olin Fellow. He earned his Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and his B.A. from the University of Cincinnati, where he was co-captain of the men's soccer team. He has a special talent for cutting his own hair. Dr. Maurer and his wife, Joellen, have been married since 1989 and have four children, a daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren.
Ed Skoudis has taught over 40,000 security professionals globally in penetration testing, incident handling, and cybersecurity professionalism. Ed currently serves as the President of the SANS Technology Institute college, supporting over 2,000 current students earning their master's degrees, bachelor's degrees, and cyber security certificates.
