Bridge Over a Pond with Water Lilies

We learned earlier this year that Claude Monet devoted portions of his later life to creating “series paintings,” in which he repeatedly captured various subjects in different types of light, weather, and ambiance. Although he painted Houses of Parliament (page 102) while traveling in England, Monet completed most of his series paintings in his native France. Bridge Over a Pond with Water Lilies depicts a scene near his home, which was located on a property he purchased in 1883 in the French town of Giverny, about 80 kilometers west of Paris. ...
