Lowpass and Highpass Filter Characteristics

Active filters are the building blocks of active crossovers. There are many excellent and comprehensive textbooks on active filters, [1][2][3] but most of them assume familiarity with Laplace s-variables, complex algebra, and so on. This chapter however contains nothing more fearsome than a square root, and I hope shows in a straightforward way how to put together the blocks that make up a filter. The design of each block to component value level is covered in Chapters 8 and 9.
