DRAWING PLANTS AND FLOWERS
Drawing plants is both a relaxing and rewarding process. Their organic, irregular shapes leave room for small mistakes, making them very forgiving subjects. Every leaf and flower are a little different, and your drawings often feel more natural when your lines and shapes aren’t identical. While it’s possible to draw plants from imagination, I find it especially helpful as a landscape designer and gardener to sketch real plants. It’s a great way to learn more about them and to remember their names. In this chapter, we’ll draw garden plants, flowers, grasses, and a few common houseplants.
