21. CLAMPS AND PLATES

THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS out there to secure your camera in place. One of my favorites is the Manfrotto Super Clamp and a ball head (Figures 21.1 and 21.2). The Super Clamp is a heavy-duty clamp that is designed for clamping lights to bars, but it can also be used to secure your camera. The best part is that it costs about $30 and it is much smaller than a tripod. You can easily put it in a camera bag or take it on vacation without taking up much space. The downside is that you need to attach it to something for it to be useful, and it is only as stable as whatever you attach it to.
