32. FRYING PAN GROUND POD

NATURE PHOTOGRAPHERS WHO shoot birds, wildlife, and macro subjects know that the best shots are taken from ground level. Often times this means putting your tripod with splayed legs into environments with mud and sand. A better solution is to use a “skid” or a low pod that allows you to get the camera system as low to the ground as possible.

This project uses a frying pan and a ball head to work as a ground pod. You can buy these types of products commercially, but my solution is much less expensive and works just as well.
