Knots
Several types of knots can be tied, but in the film industry there are at least four knots that you will use on a daily basis:
- Bowline
- Clove hitch
- Half hitch
- Square knot
Each one of these knots is a must-know knot. Sure, it is great to know more types, but these are the most commonly used.
Bowline Knot
This knot is used to hang anything that is a dead hang, or a straight pull-down. After you have read the instructions on how to tie this knot (Figure 4.1), practice it several items. Learn to tie it with your eyes closed. Practice until it becomes second nature.
