Mentoring

Introduction

The mentoring programs used by various organizations are presented in this chapter. Before evaluating the effectiveness of mentoring in the transformational change context, we will discuss some mentoring arrangements. Most organizations have their own organization-specific mentoring programs, such as McDonalds’ “Where You Want To Be;” however, the focus of this chapter is to explore wide ranging, cross-sectional, and cross-organizational mentoring programs and how such programs can help implement organizational change. The mentoring relationships discussed here are as follows: (1) industry-specific mentoring, (2) executive mentoring, (3) peer mentoring, and (4) empowerment mentoring.
