This chapter discusses NIM. It explains how to configure NIM to install AIX and
how to install AIX on an IBM Eserver BladeCenter JS20 using NIM.
BladeCenter JS20 supports the installation of AIX 5.2f and later. We recommend
that you install AIX using a network installation via NIM. NIM is a unified console
that allows the management of several AIX logical partitions (LPARs) or
machines. You may install AIX on new machines or manage existing ones from a
