Vision Three: Augmented Manufacturing

We had the privilege of visiting Tesla’s factory a couple of times. Over the space of just one year, we observed some radical changes. There are more robots, sensors, and screens, as well as closer working spaces with hundreds, if not thousands, of workers sitting around the factory looking at computers running things.

If you are paying attention online, you will see the hype about the changes: “Industrial Revolution 5.0,” the headlines scream. The last two decades have seen much digitizing on the factory floor. That change isn’t done yet; we still see lots of non-digital processes in many factories that have yet to change from paper and pen to computers.
