Introduction

There is an existing body of academic knowledge about living wage policy and practice in the UK (Heery et al. 2017, 2018; Hirsch, 2017; Johnson et al. 2019; Linneker and Wills, 2016; Prowse and Fells, 2016a and b; Prowse et al. 2017a and b). But there is no research on living wage policy, practice and outcomes in the context of football. This chapter explores the ethical management of ‘real living wages’ (RLW) for lower-paid staff in British Football League clubs.
