Chapter 6. Basic Gameplay
In CHAPTER 5, we walked through a first night. We looked at how to start a new game and some gameplay basics—using a crafting bench and furnace and crafting and using basic tools. All this activity was in the framework of actually playing the game. In this chapter, we’ll look at Minecraft basics in a bit more depth.
There is far more to Minecraft than we can cover in this book, and with regular game updates that introduce items, blocks, mobs, and more, keeping current is a tricky proposition. Encourage your kids to explore and discover as much as they can about the game themselves. And if you can do the same alongside them, so much the better. You’ll be learning together and helping each other make discoveries.
