I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

MPEG bitstreams
After compression, audio and video signals are simply data and only differ from generic data in that they relate to real-time signals. MPEG bitstreams are basically means of transporting data whilst allowing the time axis of the original signal to be re-created at the decoder.
6.1 Introduction
There are two basic applications of MPEG bitstreams – recording and transmission – and these have quite different requirements. In the multichannel recording application the encoders and decoders can all share the same clock. The read data rate of the storage device can be adjusted so that the decoded frame rate or audio sampling rate can be slaved to any required reference signal.
