More than 2000 years ago, Aristotle (n.d.) observed that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. In today’s competitive world of work, organizations hope that their teams will achieve outcomes that are greater than the sum of individual efforts. One way to enhance their performance is through coaching (Haug, 2011; Peters & Carr, 2013). Team coaching can help a team to maximize its collective talent and resources in order to reach identifiable goals (Clutterbuck, 2009; Hackman & Wageman, 2005; Hawkins, 2011). Goal attainment can be improved by aiming at specific team processes which, in turn, may lead to new ways of working (Clutterbuck, 2010).
